Bull riding’s “Concrete Cowboys” are heating up – and headed back to NY
ELMONT, N.Y. — Fresh off a statement-making weekend in Billings, the New York Mavericks are charging toward the biggest stage in bull riding with serious momentum – and giving New York fans every reason to get excited for their return this fall.
At the PBR Billings Unleash The Beast event April 17-18, Mavericks riders delivered a dominant showing, highlighted by multiple 90-point rides – bull riding’s gold standard. Bob Mitchell went a flawless 3-for-3, punctuated by a career-best 91.15-point championship round ride. Hudson Bolton matched the sweep, notching his first-ever 90-point ride with a 90.95 score. Marco Rizzo and Leandro Zampollo added to the momentum, with Zampollo continuing to hold strong at No. 4 in the world despite battling injury. Rizzo’s consistency this season has also kept him firmly atop the 2026 Rookie of the Year race, further cementing his status as one of the sport’s brightest rising stars.
With one regular-season stop left in Tacoma before the sport’s biggest showdown, all eyes now turn to the PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, where the Mavericks’ top talent will look to carry this surge onto bull riding’s grandest stage.
That intensity is set to hit New York October 16-18, when the Mavericks storm UBS Arena in Belmont Park for their annual Maverick Days homestand. Known as the “Concrete Cowboys,” this team is bringing Western grit to the heart of the city – blending elite athleticism, edge-of-your-seat competition, and a one-of-a-kind sports experience unlike anything else in New York.
