CENTERVILLE, Ohio — Behind every powerhouse team resides an often invisible group of athletic trainers (ATs). These dedicated men and women employ cutting-edge knowledge and techniques, to keep athletes at the top of their game.
This month South CW Neighbors wraps up its three-part series showcasing the talents of the Centerville High School athletic trainers. Bringing us home: Brooke Frazer.
Degrees/certifications: AT, MAT, FMSC, MHFAC
Years in position: 2
Sports concentrations: Boys’ and girls’ soccer, girls’ wrestling, boys’ volleyball, track and field, cheerleading, gymnastics, swimming
Education/Training
- Master’s degree (sports medicine)
- National board certification
- Ohio state license
- CPR and AED certification
- 50 hours of continuing education every two years
Duties
- Injury recovery and rehabilitation
- Documentation/administrative duties (making sure all athletes have paperwork turned in, keeping coaches up to date on athletes’ recovery statuses, etc.)
- Some preventive care
- Lunch/school day treatments
- Maintaining presence at all games/events, as well as most practices
