The first day of the IESA 2A State Track Meet saw local athletes secure 12 medals. Ria Pierce of Altamont shined as the 7th-grade girls' 100m Hurdles State Champion, clocking 16.41 seconds and also placed 7th in Long Jump. For the 7th-grade boys, Easton Caraway earned a silver in Long Jump with a leap of 18’ 1.75” and secured 5th in 100m Dash. The competition continues Saturday with finals in various track events and remaining field events.
