Spira, Kwa Finish Atop MVC Championship Podium on First Day of League Meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Drake track and field began the 2026 MVC Outdoor Championships with several top 10 finishes and a pair of individual titles. Owen Spira and Xander Kwa outdid their MVC counterparts two take top honors on Saturday. Spira was the best men's hammer thrower in the league with a distance of 60.93m/199-11. Kwa outran the men's steeplechase field in 9:00.72 for the title. Adam Phillips posted one of two runner-up positions in the men's hammer with a heave of 60.81m/199-06.
