Maddox Volk, Venice baseball The Venice baseball team was on the ropes in the 7A state semifinal game, trailing Vero Beach 2-1 in the home half of the sixth inning. Volk stepped to the plate with a runner on second base and two outs and delivered an RBI single that sparked a two-out rally. That hit proved to be the difference between the Indians winning and losing. Volk finished the season with a .304 batting average, 15 runs and 14 RBI over 30 games played.
