Softball: No. 12 Raiders Fall to No. 9 Simpson in College World Series Opener; Set to Face No. 8 Belhaven in Elimination Game
SALEM, Va. – The no. 12 nationally ranked Mount Union softball team lost in the opening round of the College World Series to no. 9 Simpson 4-3. The Storm (40-6) struck first in the bottom of the third inning when Mackenzie James drew an RBI walk to break the scoreless tie and take a 1-0 lead. The Purple Raiders (35-8) would respond in the top half of the sixth inning when senior Kendyll Cahill (Groveport / Groveport Madison) hit a three-run home run to left field to take a 3-1 lead.
