South Jones football player charged with murder of classmate

A Mississippi high school football player has been charged with first-degree murder, according to Jones County District Attorney Brad Thompson on June 4. Thompson told the Clarion Ledger that the player was identified as Anthony Jackson, a rising sophomore at South Jones High School in Ellisville. Jackson was charged with the strangulation murder of classmate Yahir Alba, 16. Jackson, 16, is being charged as an adult after a hearing from the Jones County Youth Court during a June 1 hearing.
