Tremont baseball advances to state finals

BLOOMINGTON — Hunter Smith was always going to get the nod for the Tremont baseball team in its Class 1A super-sectional game. He just had to wait a day later than anticipated to take the mound against Armstrong-Potomac at Jack Horenberger Field in Bloomington, where he struck out 12 batters in six innings of a 9-1 win to send the Turks to the state finals for the first time since 2011.
