Report: Wizards’ Trae Young plans to decline player option, enter free agency

Trae Young appears to be headed for free agency. The star Washington Wizards guard plans to decline his $48.97-million player option for the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears. Spears added that the Wizards remain the frontrunner for Young's services when NBA free agency opens in July. Young was traded to Washington from the Atlanta Hawks in January in exchange for C.J.
