Hancock exits first-half finale after taking comebacker off hand

ST. PETERSBURG — Mariners starting pitcher Emerson Hancock initially looked to be no worse for wear after he took a sharp comebacker off his pitching hand in the first inning of Sunday’s game versus the Rays. Then came the second inning. Although Hancock stayed in after deflecting Yandy Díaz’s 107.2 mph grounder, he was lifted with two outs in the second after an in-game visit from manager Dan Wilson and head athletic trainer Kyle Torgerson.
