Ty Pennington Named to Walter Payton Award Preseason Watch List

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (July 14, 2026) – Northern Arizona quarterback Ty Pennington was among 30 players named to the Walter Payton Award Preseason Watch List announced on Tuesday. The Walter Payton Award, entering its 40th anniversary, is presented annually to the national offensive player of the year in the FCS. The award, known as the Heisman of the FCS, is named for legendary running back Walter Payton, who starred at Jackson State as part of his Hall of Fame career.
