Six Cardinals Receive ITA Scholar Athlete Recognition

GILBERT, Ariz. – Six members of the Lamar University women's tennis team have been named 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes announced organization officials. Those players include senior Savannah Bijlsma , junior Martina Alcaino , sophomores Asta Miettinen and Luana Paiva and freshmen Eva Gumenyuk and Lera Zaginayko . In addition to the scholar-athletes, Lamar women's tennis was also named a 2026 ITA All-Academic team by organization officials. To be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, student-athletes must achieve and maintain a 3.5 grade-point average and be eligible to play during the current academic year.
