Softball: Lainie Ornstein Promoted to Softball Top Assistant Coach Position

Erin Locascio 8/14/2026 10:44:00 AM The Cortland Softball program has announced the promotion of Lainie Ornstein to the team’s top assistant coach role for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. Ornstein served as a volunteer assistant coach in 2025-26 and helped the Red Dragons win the SUNYAC title and tie for 17th nationally after going 2-2 in NCAA regional play. A former standout player at Cortland from 2022-25, Ornstein played in 151 games, 149 as a starter, as an outfielder and catcher. She was a career .347 hitter with 144 hits and she ranks third in program history with 52 career…
