Former RIC Pitcher to Start on Sunday Aug. 23 for Detroit Tigers

Providence, R.I.– Former Rhode Island College baseball standout Andrew Sears (West Warwick, R.I.) has been called up from AAA Toledo to start for the Detroit Tigers in Kansas City vs. the Royals on Sunday, Aug. 23. Sears, a left-hander, spent 2021 and 2022 as an Anchormen before transferring to Div. I UConn for the 2023 season. He was drafted by Detroit in the 10th round of the 2023 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft.
