Groveton clips Yellowjackets in thriller

GROVETON — It was less than two years ago that the Groveton Indians went through a season in which they didn’t win a game. In the season opener Friday night, the Indians refused to lose. Jasper Due connected with Ruger McLain on a 24-yard touchdown pass on fourth down with 1:18 remaining, and the Indians opened the season in thrilling fashion with a 32-30 win over the Alto Yellowjackets at the newly named Rodney Thomas Memorial Field. “I was taught by two great men, John Outlaw and Todd Quick, that you never give up,” Groveton head coach Scott Green said.…
