Women’s Volleyball Battles in Hard-Fought Three-Set Match, Falling to Russell Sage

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Despite a three-set loss, the Plattsburgh State women’s volleyball team battled throughout, falling 25-23, 25-23, 25-21 on Friday evening in the opening match of the Cardinal Classic in Memorial Hall. The Cardinals were led offensively by senior opposite hitter Darby Collyear (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall) with eight kills. Senior outside hitters Iris Mulvey (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood) and Liya Girma (Sachse, Texas/Bishop Lynch) added seven and six kills, respectively. Sophomore setter Emily O’Brien (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) set up the Cardinal attack with a game-high 25 assists.
