Newberry Falls to Catawba in Conference Opener Following Lightning Delay

September 5th ,2026 NEWBERRY, S.C. — The Newberry Wolves opened conference play Saturday afternoon, falling 5-0 to Catawba at home following a two-hour lightning delay. Despite the lengthy interruption, Newberry returned to the field ready to compete but was unable to find the back of the net against the visiting Indians. Catawba controlled the match offensively and ultimately secured the conference-opening victory. The Wolves will look to regroup and turn their attention toward their next contest. The Wolves will be back in action on Wednesday the 9 th as they host Lee University.
