Jurkin, Alvarado Named SLC Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin football’s Lowote Jurkin and Carlos Alvarado have been named Southland Conference Players of the Week following Week 1 action. Jurkin was awarded the league’s defensive honor, while Alvarado received special teams recognition. Both players played key roles in the Lumberjacks’ 44-7 win over East Texas A&M in the former’s home opener. Jurkin, a native of Pflugerville, delivered 1.5 sacks, a quarterback hurry, a pass break up and two tackles, while aiding the Lumberjack defense in holding the Lions to 187 total yards of offense with just 56 yards coming on 22 rushing attempts.
