Red Sox place Eli White on IL, losing second center fielder in a week

Five days after the Boston Red Sox placed center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela on the injured list, reserve outfielder Eli White is joining him. White is going on the IL with a right foot ligament injury, the team announced on Friday. The seven-year veteran suffered the injury during Tuesday’s 6-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, crashing into the grated fence in Fenway Park’s center field and bending his foot awkwardly.
