Slow Start Sees No. 9 Lander Fall to Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The ninth-ranked Lander field hockey team was held without a shot in the first half as Slippery Rock jumped out to a 2-0 lead, and the Bearcats could never recover as they fell 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The Rock scored a goal in each of the first three quarters to open a 3-0 lead. The hosts opened the scoring in the seventh minute before doubling their advantage in the 25th minute, giving the Bearcats a 2-0 halftime deficit for the second time in as many days.
