Furoyama and Mateo Earn American Weekly Honors

IRVING – Mari Furoyama and Kaia Mateo earned spots on the American Conference weekly honors, the league announced Monday. Furoyama, a sophomore libero, was named Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, while Mateo earned her seventh conference honor and third honorable mention. Furoyama led the conference with 5.64 digs per set and 62 total digs over the weekend. She recorded a career-high 24 digs against UNI and matched that mark Sunday against No. 15 Creighton.
