Montague finishes 0-2-1 at Fruitport volleyball invite over weekend

LocalSportsJournal.com The Montague volleyball team fell to North Muskegon (22-25, 24-26) in the silver bracket semifinal of the Fruitport Invitational on Saturday. The Wildcats went 0-2-1 in pool play, losing to Fruitport (19-25, 15-25), drawing with Mona Shores (14-25, 25-22), and losing to Oakridge (20-25, 20-25). Annelyse Schneider recorded 23 kills and five blocks. Ellie Hedges had 13 kills, while Ellie Smith chipped in six kills and 31 digs. Layla Denhof scored six aces and made 43 assists. Ava Dean also scored six aces and threw in 52 digs on defense. Montague will be at North Muskegon on Tuesday.
