Women’s Tennis: Women’s Tennis: Gkrekou Named CNE Rookie of the Week

BRISTOL, R.I. — Roger Williams University first-year Iris Gkrekou (Athens, Greece) was named the Conference of New England Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week. Gkrekou posted a 2-0 record in singles and doubles competition in their lone match of the week, helping the Hawks earn a 7-0 victory over Clark University at the RWU Tennis Courts. At No. 2 singles, Gkrekou defeated Olivia Shipley, 6-0, 6-2. She also partnered with Valentina Abarca at No. 1 doubles for a 6-4 victory over Shipley and Varvara Maltseva, completing the Hawks’ doubles sweep.
