AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has been selected second in the Hockey East preseason poll, as voted upon by the league's head coaches, it was announced on Wednesday. The Minutemen, with 98 points and one first place vote, trailed only Providence (106 points, eight first place votes), ahead of Boston University (87, two first place votes), Boston University (87), Boston College (86), UConn (73), Merrimack (68), Maine (57), Northeastern (52), New Hampshire (35), UMass Lowell (31) and Vermont (22).
