Florida Panthers goalie Jacob Markstrom talks on the first day of training camp in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026. The Panthers opened practice on Thursday with their first preseason game on Sunday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Markstrom was initially drafted by the Panthers in 2008 and was with Florida until being traded to Vancouver as part of the Roberto Luongo deal in 2014.
