Women’s Soccer Falls to Lamar on Late Goal in Southland Opener

BEAUMONT, Texas — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s soccer team battled Lamar through 89 scoreless minutes before the Cardinals found the back of the net in the final minute, as UTRGV fell 1-0 Thursday at the LU Soccer Complex in its Southland Conference (SLC) opener. Lamar’s (4-1-3, 0-1 SLC) Kamryn Harvey scored the game-winning goal with just nine seconds remaining, finding the bottom center of the net with her right foot at the 89:48 mark. The Vaqueros (4-5, 0-1 SLC) controlled the opening half defensively, holding the Cardinals scoreless while creating several opportunities of their own.…
