Early Goal Lifts Blues To 1-0 Win Over Linfield

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Leah Barnes scored in the 10th minute, and the Whitman College women’s soccer team opened Northwest Conference play with a 1-0 victory over Linfield on Saturday at James Hayner Field. Barnes finished a pass from Nana Tanikawa at the 9:52 mark for what proved to be the game’s only goal. The Blues had an opportunity to add to their lead earlier, but Linfield goalkeeper Tati Zahajko stopped a penalty kick in the fourth minute.
