Early Goal Lifts Virginia State Past Trojans, 1-0

MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Virginia State on Saturday afternoon at Amon Field. Virginia State (4-1-1) scored the lone goal of the match in the 14th minute when Erica Mathews found the back of the net unassisted. VSU carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime. Mount Olive (2-3-2) continued to battle in the second half, but the Trojans were unable to find the equalizer.
