Lander Topples Wingate 2-0 to Open SAC Play

WINGATE, N.C. – The Lander field hockey team controlled play for most of the game and used goals in the 23rd and 38th minutes to defeat Wingate 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Graham Gill Field, opening South Atlantic Conference play with a win. Lander dominated offensively throughout the game, outshooting the Bulldogs 15-6, including a 12-1 advantage in the first half. The Bearcats also forced six saves from the Wingate goalkeeper, while Maddie White needed to make just two saves to record the first shutout of her career.
