Pioneer women’s soccer team owns the stat sheet, but loses 2-0 at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Sometimes the statistics don’t tell the story. That’s what Grinnell College’s women’s soccer team ran into Saturday afternoon, as the Pioneers outshot Monmouth College 26-3 yet lost a 2-0 decision in the Midwest Conference opener for each team. The shot total for Grinnell (2-4-1, 0-1 MWC) was the highest for the program since 2023. The Pioneers won the shots on goal battle 12-2 and had 12 corners compared to two for Monmouth (3-1, 1-0 MWC).
