Simmons High football player dies after shooting in Hollandale

A Simmons High School athlete died on the night of Sept. 19, Hollandale Police Chief Johnny Spand confirmed to the Clarion Ledger on Sept. 21. The player was identified as Jadarius Jenkins. He was 17 years old. Spand confirmed that at 10:47 p.m., officers responded to a call near Roosevelt Street in Hollandale on Sept. 19. On arrival, Jenkins was found with gunshot wounds and was transported to the Delta Health Medical System in Greenville and died from his injuries. Spand said the investigation is still ongoing.
