Sara van Gisteren & Yasmeen Muhammad Win NEC Weekly Honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Following a successful 2-0 weekend at the Butler Invitational, Sara van Gisteren and Yasmeen Muhammad earned NEC weekly honors, the conference announced Tuesday. van Gisteren was named NEC Player of the Week after leading LIU to a 3-2 win over Duke on Sept. 19 with 20 kills. The victory was LIU women’s volleyball’s second win over a Power 4 opponent in the Sharks era, with the first coming last week against Virginia Tech on Sept. 13.
