Lions maintain top spot in ASWA poll

The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its latest high school football poll Wednesday morning. Briarwood Christian School held at No. 1 in Private Class 2A, again sweeping all 20 first-place votes after a 49-14 win over Madison Academy last week. The Lions, now 5-0, host Montgomery Catholic this week in a non-region game. Spain Park dropped to No. 10 in Class 6A, down from No. 7, after falling 30-7 to Vestavia Hills, and the Jaguars have an open date this week.
