NHL announces consolidation of Winnipeg Jets’ history

The record books are changing for the Winnipeg Jets. The statistical history of the Jets will now include the team's first stint in Winnipeg (1979-96), as well as their years as the Atlanta Thrashers (1999-2011) and their current run in the Manitoba capital, the NHL announced Thursday. The statistical history of the inactive Coyotes franchise will include only its years in Arizona (1996-2024) and will not be included in the Jets' history. The original Jets moved to Arizona in 1996.
