Gerres Breaks School Record, Weimer Snags Fourth in Chicago

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota’s cross country team saw some of the fastest performances in program history on Friday morning at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Chicago’s north side. Emmett Gerres broke Minnesota’s 8K men’s school record while women’s 6K school record holder Ali Weimer posted the second fastest time of her career to finish fourth overall. As a team the No. 24 ranked Gopher women finished second (112 points) behind only No. 20 Virginia (71 points) and ahead of No. 12 Northwestern (123 points).
