For the first 45 minutes on Wednesday night, Lumen Field hosted soccer that was so thoroughly uninspired it was like two middle school JV teams, and that’s probably an insult to JV teams. The Sounders and Real Salt Lake traded turnovers, butchered simple passing lanes, and sleepwalked through a game played in low-block mud.
