Hanover Park Volleyball Teams Fundraiser for Strong Mommas Against Cancer
During Giovanna Pignataro’s seventh-grade volleyball season, she knew her mom, Cristina, would always be in the bleachers. It didn’t matter that Cristina Pignataro was battling Stage 2 metastatic breast cancer, and going through what she described as “red devil intense chemotherapy.” She was always there for her twins: Giovanna and Isabella, from volleyball in the fall to softball in the spring. Giovanna Pignataro recalled telling her mom not to bother showing up for a particular softball game. But even after surgery, her mom was there cheering.
