MLB wild-card preview: Pitching takes centre stage in opening round

All the telltale signs of fall are upon us. A slight chill in the air, the changing colours, the shorter days, the seemingly overnight arrival of that Spirit Halloween store down the block. And perhaps most importantly, the start of the Major League Baseball post-season. It took all 162 games to finalize this year’s 12-team playoff field, as the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies made it by the skin of their teeth and clinched on the final day of the regular season.
