CBS and Tony Romo mutually part ways more than two months after Romo’s OWI arrest
The awkward holding pattern between CBS and Tony Romo is over. CBS announced that it is parting ways with Romo, who had been its No. 1 NFL color commentator with play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz. Romo was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated on July 23 after a golf event in Wisconsin and had been on leave from the network. J.J. Watt took over No. 1 color duties on CBS’ top NFL broadcasts through the first three weeks of the regular season.
