Red Sox View Curtis Mead As Early Favorite For Second Base Job
The Red Sox unfortunately didn’t get much of a look at Curtis Mead this year. Boston bought big on his breakout form in Washington, sending talented young southpaw Connelly Early to the Nationals at the deadline. Mead was hit by a pitch from Jack Perkins in his second at-bat in a Sox uniform, suffering a broken left wrist that essentially ended his season. He was out until the second game of the Wild Card series, when he was activated to replace Roman Anthony after the latter’s injury.
