Red Wings closing in on seven-year extension with Alex DeBrincat

The Detroit Red Wings are close to locking down one of their top forwards. Detroit is closing in on a seven-year extension with Alex DeBrincat, a deal that would carry a $13-million average annual value, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. The Farmington Hills, Mich., native had two goals and an assist in Tuesday's overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils, giving him four goals and eight points over the first six games of Detroit's season. DeBrincat had 41 goals and 44 assists in 82 games for the Red Wings in 2025-26. More to come.
