Brockport’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams open Empire 8 dual-meet competition at Alfred on Saturday, Oct. 24. Both squads are coming off second-place finishes at the Cortland Pumpkin Relays, while Alfred will look to rebound from a season-opening loss to RIT.

By the Numbers
  • Brockport’s men scored 245 points and its women scored 212 at Cortland; both teams finished second.
  • The Brockport women beat Alfred 200-94 last season; the men lost 180-106.
  • Alfred fell to RIT 236-62 in its season opener.
Yes, But

Brockport enters with momentum, including relay wins for both squads and a sweep of the men’s diving events. Alfred has already shown individual strength: Carlos Gonzalez won the 200-yard individual medley against RIT.

State of Play
  • Saturday’s meet begins at 1 p.m. at Alfred’s McLane Natatorium.
  • It is the first dual meet of the season for both Brockport teams and Alfred’s home opener.
What’s Next

Brockport travels to SUNY Geneseo on Oct. 31 for another 1 p.m. Empire 8 matchup.

Bottom Line

Brockport’s early relay and diving results offer a strong start, but the Alfred meet will be the first dual-meet test of how that momentum carries into conference competition.
