Five Brownwood High School standouts — Jerry McCullough, Mitch Moore, Mitch Stovall, Adam Lancaster and Jeremy Alcorn — were inducted into the 2026 Gordon Wood Hall of Champions. The ceremony also recognized the 2025 Lady Lions, who won Brownwood’s first girls team state championship in any sport.

By the Numbers
  • 5 individual inductees joined the Class of 2026.
  • The Lady Lions scored 64 points, finishing 19 ahead of runner-up Canyon.
  • McCullough’s school-record marks — 41.8 seconds in the 4×100 relay and 21.3 in the 200 meters — still stand.
  • The 2025 Lady Lions won 3 state medals: gold in the 4×100 relay and 200 meters, and silver in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays.
Yes, But

The inductees’ paths to the honor varied: Moore later coached at Brownwood and served as the district’s athletic director, while McCullough, Stovall, Lancaster and Alcorn were recognized for accomplishments across track, football, baseball and golf. Alcorn and Lancaster were unable to attend and sent video messages.

Bottom Line

The ceremony honored more than athletic achievement: it celebrated the coaches, teammates and community ties that have shaped generations of Brownwood Lions.
