Huntington, Apple Springs advance in volleyball playoffs

Huntington kept its volleyball season going with a bi-district win over Tarkington Thursday night in Livingston. The Devilettes defeated Tarkington 25-22, 25-21, 20-25 and 25-18. Huntington will meet Columbus, a five-set winner over Sweeny, in the area round early next week. Also in Class 3A, Diboll lost its bi-district match to Orangefield in three sets. In Class 4A, Hudson lost its bi-district match to Lumberton on Thursday night. In Class A, Apple Springs beat Mount Calm in the bi-district round of the playoffs and will play in the area round next week.
