SMU Assistant Athletic Director for Basketball Operations Michael Swets was named to Silver Waves Media’s 2026-27 list of top college basketball support staff. The recognition highlights the behind-the-scenes work that helps programs, coaches and student-athletes succeed. It’s Swets’ second selection, following his 2021-22 honor.

By the Numbers
  • 11 seasons working with SMU head coach Andy Enfield.
  • 3rd season at SMU; 8 seasons at USC.
  • USC reached 4 NCAA Tournaments during Swets’ tenure, including the 2021 Elite Eight.
Yes, But

The honor recognizes operational contributions rather than on-court coaching. Swets’ responsibilities include travel, scheduling, budgeting and coordination across the athletic department and campus.

Bottom Line

Swets’ repeat selection underscores how much college basketball success depends on the staff work that happens beyond the court.
