Main Story

Fairfield women’s lacrosse has sustained its championship-level success by adapting to each new roster rather than relying on a fixed formula. Coach Laura Field says the program’s next goal is to win an NCAA Tournament first-round game after eight straight appearances ended there.

By the Numbers
  • 9 consecutive MAAC Championship Game appearances.
  • 7 MAAC titles in 8 seasons.
  • 8 consecutive NCAA Tournament berths.
  • In 2024, Fairfield went 16-1 before losing the MAAC final and earning the program’s first at-large NCAA bid.
Yes, But

The streak has included setbacks: Fairfield won the 2022 MAAC title as the fourth seed, while the nationally ranked 2024 team lost the conference final. Its NCAA appearances have also all ended in the first round.

Bottom Line

Fairfield’s standard isn’t built on repeating last season’s success; it’s built on adapting to new teams and challenges. The next measure of progress is advancing beyond the NCAA Tournament’s opening round.
