EDMONTON, Alberta (BVM) – It wouldn’t take long for the Edmonton Oilers to make an introduction to the rest of the NHL after their arrival from the WHA in the early 1980’s. Following the Gretzky-era that resulted in four cups in five years, the Oilers set a precedent that has been hard to follow.
With four Stanley Cups to his name, Gretzky’s departure from the franchise changed the dynamic for the future, but not before the team locked down one final trophy to end the decade.
