Jalyn Aponte’s big day for Natick encapsulates emotional night
NATICK, Mass. (BVM) — Natick High School’s senior running back Jalyn Aponte has had to come into the season with a different mindset after suffering the tragic loss of junior Giovanni Taboh in a car accident earlier this month.
The Redhawks senior back has made it a point to honor Taboh this season, doing so by switching his number from No. 4 to No. 7. Before Natick’s game against Milton, the school held a moment of silence for Taboh.
The emotional night for Natick would be encapsulated by the performance put up by Aponte, who rushed for 144 yards and four touchdowns in the team’s 48-26 win over the Wildcats. The Redhawks star running back has been on a tear to open this season, rushing for 166 yards and a touchdown in the team’s opening matchup against Walpole.
Natick is out to a quick 2-0 start this season and is looking to follow up on the team’s stellar 2019-20 campaign. The Redhawks will look to continue their hot start with an upcoming matchup against Needham scheduled for Thursday.
