Nick Sinacola continuing run of dominance for UMaine
ORONO, Maine (BVM) –– University of Maine starting pitcher Nick Sinacola is off to a record–breaking start. The Black Bears junior has posted his fourth double-digit strikeout performance, while racking up four wins in 2021.
After his 15-strikeout performance against Binghamton, Sinacola is up to 54 strikeouts on the season, gaining ground on the single-season record of 108 set by Larry Thomas in 1991. With his seven-inning complete-game shutout against the Bearcats, Sinacola has now lowered his ERA to 1.01 on the season.
After bringing home America East Pitcher of the Week honors last week after a 16-strikeout performance, Sinacola would double-down, receiving those honors again for a second consecutive week.

The Black Bears star pitcher is coming off an up-and-down sophomore season that would come to a close early after Covid-19 cancelations. The UMaine junior now ranks 11th in the country in hits allowed per nine innings (4.05), 13th in ERA (1.01) and eighth in complete games (2) in 2021.
Sinacola has UMaine off to an 8-7 start this season after being a part of the 1-12 team last year. The Black Bears will look to get back on track in their upcoming matchup against New Jersey Institute of Technology after dropping their past three games.
