Matthew Cleveland enters transfer portal; Top 5 landing spots

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (BVM) – Matthew Cleveland, the ACC’s Sixth Man of the Year from a season ago, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after an impressive two-year run at Florida State.

The rising junior guard opted to put his name into this year’s growing portal after a 2022-23 campaign that saw him average 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds. Following a season in which he came off the bench for head coach Leonard Hamilton, Cleveland elevated his play with an increased role during this year’s campaign, starting all 30 games.

The former top-25 recruit from the Class of 2021 was highly touted coming out of Pace Academy in Atlanta, choosing Florida State over a list of five finalists that included Michigan, Stanford, Kansas, and NC State.

With a chance to land one of the premier targets in this year’s portal, the 6-foot-7 guard will likely find himself with a number of programs around the country vying for his services. Here’s five teams that could position themselves to be in the top spot.
